Portrait of a Red-Tailed Hawk, Wavecrest, Half Moon Bay, California. This immature Red-Tailed Hawk had just pounced into a moving clump of grass in a meadow, only to come up empty handed. The hawk was comfortable enough with my presence to let me snap off a few photos before it flew back up to its perch to try again.
