Late afternoon during a breaking storm, Russian Ridge Open Space Preserve, Central California. The rushing cold wind was almost unbearable, and walking along the ridge the wind brought with it a thin layer of damp fog that fogged up everything from my sunglasses to my camera lens to my camera filters.
Upon reaching the summit of the Ridge, I noticed a small collection of fresh roses placed atop one of the many rocks. In the howling wind and cold, the flowers appeared completely untouched. Alongside was a plaque which read:
"Sophi ****
our daughter
Born in the hands of the lord
and in our hearts forever
Dec, ***"
