Hair Raising - Red Tailed Hawk

Immature Red Tail hawk hovering over its prey, an American Coot, in the shade of a tree along the shores of Shoreline Lake, Mountain View, California. A behavior of what seems like a combination of curiosity and alarm, this Hawk would constantly ruffle its head feathers while surveying its environment.
