Sunset along the southern shore of Marie Lake, John Muir Wilderness. Marie Lake, located just north of Seldon Pass in the Sierra National Forest, is a popular lake for those hiking the John Muir Trail. This photo was taken on the first of a three night backpacking trip to the area. After a grueling day of hiking up and over Seldon Pass, I was greeted with clouds of mosquitos as I reached the shore of Marie Lake. This spectacular High Sierra sunset however, helped me ignore the mosquitos as they continually buzzed around my head.
