Granite walls enclosing the Lower reaches of Miter Basin, Sequoia National Park. The hike up through Miter Basin is relatively gentle, interspersed with granite and meadows such as this one.
We had camped at Rock Creek and on this day hiked up to Sky Blue Lake for lunch. During our return hike the afternoon storm clouds enveloped the basin quickly. Before making it to camp the sky opened up in a down poor, with lightning strikes nearby a bit too close for comfort. Upon reaching camp we noticed our entire camp had flooded. Luckily we rescued much of our camping gear before the worst of the deluge, lasting several hours before letting up in late afternoon.
