Shadows - John Muir Trail - Lyell Canyon

Early morning in upper Lyell Canyon, Yosemite National Park. Lyell Canyon stretches north to south for several miles from Tioga Pass road south to Mt Lyell and Donahue Pass. Both the John Muir Trail and Pacific Crest Trail pass through this beautiful canyon, which is a relatively easy walk along its entire length from Tuolumne Meadows to the intersection of Kuna Creek and Lyell Creek. This photo was taken near my camp on my second night along the John Muir Trail - at the head of the canyon and just above the first hump leading up towards Donahue Pass.
