View south from the western-most Barrett Lake in Palisade Basin, Kings Canyon National Park. Although much of this lake was surrounded with seemingly barren granite rock, if one looks close enough one can find beautiful meadows scattered amongst the rock.
Seeing clouds this early in the morning in the Sierra often tells of monsoonal weather approaching. This forecast was spot on, as I experienced severe thunderstorms later on in the day, luckily making it over Knapsack Pass before the majority the weather truly threatened.
