Black Howler Monkey high in the rainforest canopy of Parque Nacional Tortuguero, Costa Rica. Deriving its name from its unique, spooky, and loud call, Howler Monkeys can sometimes be heard miles away. In one instance, several Howler Monkeys sang outside our room in Tortuguero. As dusk approached, it was a bit spooky and unnerving to hear their calls in the pitch black jungle.
