Trail Crest - Mount Whitney

Trail Crest below the summit of Mount Whitney. Inyo National Forest. Trail Crest is located just south of Mt Whitney on the border of Sequoia National Park. This three way trail junction sits at 13,600 feet in elevation - to the east is the Whitney Portal trailhead, the west Sequoia National Park, and to the north the summit of Mount Whitney. Quite often a line of backpacks can be found resting on the rocks at Trail Crest as backpackers temporarily drop the weight to hike the trail to the summit of Mt. Whitney.
