Stormy afternoon in Pioneer Basin, John Muir Wilderness. A break in the long storm, a coyote was howling on the far side of this lake when I took this photo. The rain started early in the afternoon, and aside from this short break persisted all through the night, with lightning striking for hours around my camp. Not comforting when you have a 10lb metal tripod resting just outside your tent.
